How to Get the Most Out of Conferences

Published: December 15, 2016

When it comes to conferences, it's best to be on your game. We're talking even to the levels of eschewing fast food and eating healthy days before so you have energy-- because let's face it, it's taxing. It wouldn't be out of order to stock up on green juice when you're in town, because you are going to need that nutritional power to keep you focused and your energy levels alert!

We know that you want to get the absolutely most out of conferences while you're there. There's a time for work and there's a time for play, and you can always play once the conference is done. But if you're going to be there, you may as well make the most of it. Luckily for you, we've assembled all the tips and tricks you ever need to know to maximize this experience. If you're going to show up, go all out, right?

Conferences are tricky because you have to be on your A-game at all times. You also have to prepare for days ahead of time, making sure you have all your outfits and accessories ready to go. Then, of course, there's the conference itself, which demands an entirely novel way of thinking and focus. If you want to build your business up or land a big job or just network successfully, you have to be prepared.

Things to Bring with You:

A focused mind state.

Don't let yourself get distracted; you're here to work! So get something done ahead of time to ensure you're going to have a great experience and zone in. Get in the flow and it will all work out. Just don't be tired, lazy, or apathetic-- it's a recipe for disaster. People always pick up on emotional states, so make sure yours is a good one.

Customized business cards.

Those custom business cards are a great way to network and advertise yourself or your business! They're easy to distribute and will allow you to conveniently give people your information without fumbling for your phone to text it. They're professional, as well, so you'll look together-- making them more likely to call.

Plan beforehand!

Nothing is worse than not being sufficiently prepared, so you've absolutely got to put aside some time prior to the conference for planning. Plan a presentation, plan what you're going to say, what you're going to do, and what your goals are. Throw in some confidence building videos in there from YouTube and you've got the whole package.

Know your goals.

When you know what your own goals are, you know what you want. Keep what you want to get out of the conference in mind while it's going on and you'll be fine.

Eat and hydrate.

It's easy to forget to get your three square meals a day when you're at these things, but staying hydrated and keeping your blood sugar up is important! Otherwise, you may become sluggish and even dizzy. So be sure to eat something for breakfast and continue either snacking or eating when you can throughout.

Conferences are tough, but follow our guide and you'll make it through. Don't forget to get a good night's rest in the days leading up to your conference too, and you'll be just fine. Thanks for reading, and good luck!
